Serial Killer: The Zodiac Killer
Perhaps one of the most well-known and infamous killers of the 60's and 70's, the Zodiac Killer was an individual who reported to the newspapers his crimes. The zodiac killer was an interesting individual, with a bold eye for crime, as he reported to the media that he killed a total of 37 people, however, only seven of them have been confirmed by police and investigators of the North Bay area. The killer generally conducting these murders in recreational parks, or areas that were relatively empty for the most part, as it is thought that he conducted his murders this way to eliminate the possibility of leaving behind evidence such as finger prints and other possible things the forensic specialists can pick up.
The zodiac killer starting his supposed skilling sprees in the late 60's , believed to have had his first substantial case on June 4, 1963 in which two young high school students were shot numerous times at a beach in the Santa Barbara area. As these signified the beginning of what would be called a series of the killings by the zodiac killer, the zodiac killer was able to maintain his infamous name through the numerous letters he wrote to newspapers, as most times a murder victim was found, it was linked to the zodiac killer. As of today, there is no one person responsible for these murders, as many believe it was Arthur Leigh Allen. As of today, the lack of DNA as well as hard forensic evidence still longs for an individual linked to the zodiac killings.
