Serial Killer: The Son of Sam
Son of Sam, David Richard Berkowitz, Richard David Falco, and the .44 caliber killer are all names of the infamous American serial killer and arsonist who put the city of New York in a frantic state of delusion. Early life for David was often deemed boring, as his above average intelligence saw the world of academia one for unintelligent people. At a young age losing quick interest in academics he started with petty larceny and was infatuated with fire. As the young David started to experiment with cults and other counter culture groupings, he was introduced into the world of drugs and Satanism. Which often times was believed to be the beginning of his serial killer life style.
David's apparent first attacks on individuals was an incident in 1975 where he stabbed two women on Christmas eve, in which case he left both alive, but seriously injured. Although the women were not killed, David claimed that this was the first time that he was satisfied with his doings which could possibly have led him to commit a total of six people, and injuring seven. As David's nick name, .44 caliber killer, gives reference to his preference of weapon to use while committing his crimes, however, his infamous name eventually got him landed in jail. July 31, 1977, David committed what is now called the Stacy Moskowitz and Robert Violante shooting, in which case he was seen by numerous witness's that were later able to describe him. As he was captured and sent to jail, he currently resides in Attica Correction facility serving a 20 year life sentence with a maximum term of 365 years.
