Scott Peterson
December 24, 2002, Laci Peterson was suspected missing from her home and spouse, Scott Peterson, in Modesto, California. Her Husband, Scott Peterson, was not immediately a suspect of the missing soon to be mom, as he was never seen by friends and family as the type that would ever hurt his wife. However, Scott was not initially off the hook, as he had start to grow inconsistent with his testimonies, and as police forces found out more about Scott and his various acts of adultery, the police grew suspicious. His most recent affair before, during, and after the claim that his wife had been missing, was Amber Frey, who was a massage therapist that would be an essential and crucial aspect to the persecuting case against Scott Peterson. As things started to unravel for Scott, the police started to notice that the motives for killing Laci and his unborn child fit perfectly with the current extramarital affairs as police sought that he was overwhelmed with life and debt. Therefore, by murdering Laci Peterson, Scott would not only be single, but would not have the financial burden of a new born child.
Scott Peterson was like any other normal individual, attended college pursing a degree in agricultural business at California Polytechnic State University. Unfortunately, many believe that Scott was not ready to engage in such a serious commitment, and after marrying Laci on the basis of only knowing her for less than a year, many believe it was enough to tip Scott overboard. Arrested on April 18, 2003 in the back parking lot of a Golf Course, Peterson was searched and to little surprise was found with a wide array of odd possessions 15,000 dollars in cash, four cell phones, rope, his brother's driver's license, several pairs of clothes, a dagger, and an assortment of camping equipment. Furthermore, Scott had undergone some recent cosmetic changes, dyed blond hair and goatee, that altered his outward appearance.
June 2004, Scott Peterson began his trail of The People of the State of California v. Scott Peterson, which was held in Redwood City, California. Scott prior to his arraignment filed for a public defense attorney claiming that he did not have enough funds. Contrary to his prior statements however, Scott hired a very well-known criminal attorney Mark Geragos to handle his case. Scott sought to find and hire some of the best attorneys as he would have to face prosecution from Amber Frey. Although Amber claimed to have no bias towards or for Scott Peterson, she was an extremely helpful asset to the persecuting team as she gave incredibly useful insight about Scott Peterson and his recent actions and claims.
Evidence against Scott Peterson was somewhat circumstantial, and in return Scott's attorney, Mark Garagos, would attempt to capitalize on that innate fact that no cold hard evidence was found. However, the prosecuting team brought up various things that Scott had done immediately after Laci's disappearance such as ordering pornographic channels, phone taped conversations between him and Amber in regards to his apparent trip to Paris, and selling his wife's Land Rover were all key points of evidence pointing to that fact that Scott did not expect his wife to return anytime soon.
