Joran Van Der Sloot
Joran Andres Petrus van der Sloot, a 23 year old Dutch citizen indicted by the U.S. grand jury for various crimes such as murder, robbery, wire fraud, and extortion. While facing these various crimes in different countries, he was more recently found in Chile and was deported to Lima, Peru where he will be put on trial for his cases of first degree murder as well as armed robbery. Afterwards, Joran must be transferred to the U.S., where he will then be charged with extortion and wire fraud. Joran is currently looking at a start of about 30 years in prison, and is expected to drastically increase once he serves his time in the U.S. after Peru. Born in Gelderland, Netherlands, Joran was an intelligent, athletic, and respected individual who was a representative of the International School of Aruba honor society as well as a star player for both the school's soccer and tennis team. However, this young individual was more than a superstar in the schooling environment, but also more recently can be considered a superstar with quite the criminal record for such a young age.
In 2005, Joran was arrested along with his brothers, Deepak Kalpoe and Satish Kalpoe, as they were believed to have something to do with the disappearance of the young American 18 year old, Natalee Holloway. However, due to lack of evidence as well as ability to persecute the boys of their suspected acts of murder and rape, the boys were released with the condition that they must stay in Dutch territory in case further legal actions were to arise. There was another incident on November 1, 2007, where the boys were re-arrested, yet were left alone again after the lack of evidence by the persecuting team.
Joran from that point on would maintain somewhat of a normal and simple life, where he was traveling to various places around the world to pursue his international sense of business. Joran attended numerous colleges, where he would eventually dropout and purchase a local pizza shop as his source of revenue. Unfortunately, just as things started to return back to normal, Joran was charged with first degree murder of a woman named Flores Ramirez who was found dead in Lima, Peru.
The two were spotted together grabbing drinks and getting familiar with each other as they seemed to become more than acquaintances. The next day, Ramirez was found dead, and the murder weapon was believed to have been a tennis racket. Currently, Joran faces first degree murder charges as well as rape in the country of Peru. After being held and can possibly face charges for his crimes, Joran admitted to killing Holloway, and would attempt to bargain his transfer back to Aruba for information in regards to where her body was located. Joran was still transferred to Peru's penitentiary where he must wait to stand trial. Afterwards, whether proven guilty or not, Joran must then be transferred to the United States, where he must face the charges against him in regards to Natalee Holloway.
