Prisons are famous for ghost and paranormal activity. Many believe that the
sadness, isolation and strong psychological impressions left at some prisons
have provided a breeding ground for paranormal activity. Below we have
featured a few of the more famous
haunted prisons.



Haunted Alcatraz
Alcatraz is an island located in the San Fransico Bay. The U.S. Army used the
island now known as "The Rock" as a military prison until around 1933, when the
government converted the island into a maximum security penitentiary, designed
to house the most dangerous criminals of it's time.




Haunted Eastern State Penitentiary
Eastern State Penitentiary, located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, was opened in
1829 and is regarded as the world's oldest penitentiary.









Mansfield Reformatory
Mansfield Reformatory, otherwise known as the Ohio State Reformatory  is
located in Mansfield Ohio and is said to be one of the most haunted spots in the
U.S. It was originally used as a reformatory for boys, until 1976 when it was
converted into an Ohio state penitentiary.
