Clyde Chestnut Barrow

The 1930s for the United States signified a time of struggle, desperation, and crime. As the people of the U.S. were facing more than a simple recession, but rather a time and era that can only be described as the Great Depression. This was a time in history that the overall rate of crime, robbery, and murder skyrocketed as the slowly and grudgingly difficult economy was dissipating at exponential rates. The deviant actions of society were prevalent everywhere, as this era gave rise to many historically famous robbers, specifically one of the greatest crime duos of all time, Bonnie and Clyde. Clyde and Bonnie were lovers that traveled amongst the central United States during the great depression robbing various banks, grocery stores, and local gas stations. The crime ridden couple had been sought to commit over a dozen bank robberies, countless acts of local theft, and apparently have been thought to murder at least nine police officers and several civilians. Clyde Chestnut Barrow is often times sought of as the mastermind of these various acts of crime. Clyde was born in Texas in a small local town in Ellis County. Born into a family of seven, but was the first to be arrested for not returning a rental car on time. From that point on many believe that Clyde was destined to be a criminal, as he was capable of maneuvering his way through anything.

The early criminal record of Clyde Chestnut Barrow was anything but miniscule, as he was accused of various acts of theft and assault. Being put inside the local jail, he created relationships with other criminals that would be treasured until his last day. Upon his departure from Eastham Prison, he kept in touch with another fellow and together started robbing banks and gas stations once again. The purpose behind these robberies was far more complex than to have materialistic goods, rather it was to steal enough money and find enough criminals so that they can start a full on liberating attack upon the Eastham Prison and let out fellow inmates. A couple of months down the line however, plans changed, as Clyde and Bonnie would start their very own crime spree as they traveled the highway to crime, murder, and riches. Many confrontations between Clyde and policeman resulted in gun fire and close escapes. However, on May 23, 1934, the partly successful crime duo would never be given the chance to steal or harm anyone ever again. As the couple made their usual trip to a friend's house in Louisiana, four sheriffs ambushed the car emptying out at least three different guns on the car. The couple was found dead on the scene with an apparent 50 bullet hole entries on each body.
