Can Scaring Someone Cure their Hiccups
Many have said scaring someone can cure the hiccups, but is this true? There have been many theories on what causes hiccups but no one knows for certain what triggers them. One theory is that a sudden emotion or surprise can cause hiccups. For many who believe this is true, believe that by using the same tactic it can help get rid of hiccups. This method might not work for everyone but there are other ways in which one can rid their hiccups. If ever your hiccups last for more than 2 days, you should seek help from a doctor.
If you want to take the initiate to help a friend in need of a hiccup cure, you will need to brush up on your scaring ability. For some people, scaring a friend is an easy task. For the rest of us who have especially difficult friends to scare, there are some hints. Try hiding! One of the easiest ways to scare an unsuspecting friend is by popping out without warning. Easy places to hide are in closets, behind doors or around corners. One of the most tried and true ways to pop out and scare your buddy is after they go to the bathroom, wait in front of the door and give them a good fright as they open it up. This scare may be just the jolt needed to help cure their hiccups. To be extra effective while scaring your friend, try and use a scary voice. Making deep voices or strange, unusual sounds will be a great way to send fear through their body. Practicing all of these techniques in a dark, nighttime setting only increases the fear factor, which hopefully means there is a greater chance of helping your friends annoying hiccups.
Many other theories exist for curing hiccups. Such as holding your breath or drinking lots of water. Some believe in these cures, others think they are simply an urban legend. The only way to know for sure is to try all the options. For some people certain cures work and others don't. All that is known for sure is that no one likes the hiccups, so why not try to cure it.
